You're Always Good.

Can I be honest with you?

A couple days ago in my devotion time with Dad, I was really struggling to understand that He is good. I was really wrestling with the thought of His goodness in my season. I was wrestling with God if He was even real or not. It got that serious. I was frustrated that I was not seeing Him move in my situation. I was upset that I felt like I was alone and He was ignoring me.

I listened to an amazing song from Housefires, called “Give Thanks to God”. Part of the spontaneous worship they broke into was repeated over and over and over again.

EVEN WHEN IT'S HARD TO SEE.

YOU’RE ALWAYS GOOD.

YOU’RE ALWAYS GOOD TO ME.

EVEN WHEN IT FEELS UNCERTAIN.

YOU’RE ALWAYS GOOD.

YOU’RE ALWAYS GOOD TO ME.

WHEN IT'S UNKNOWN.

YOU'RE ALWAYS GOOD.

YOU'RE ALWAYS GOOD TO ME.

These lyrics hit the inner most part of my soul and instantly, the Lord broke through. These simple lyrics repeated over and over again and I got quite annoyed by how long it stayed in my mind. I finally realized that I needed to proclaim it over my circumstances at the top of my lungs. Only then could I rest and be satisfied in His peace.

God is really good at being in control of you when you let Him be Himself and do what only He can do. He is good and His goodness will not fluctuate with your awareness of it. That’s a good word. I heard that from an incredible pastor and it changed me. Your situation is not powerful enough to change that statement either.

Maybe your process is the opposite of what you expected. Maybe everything has been super dry and nothing is really happening at all.

Maybe you need to start looking for rain.

"And Elijah said to Ahab, "Go up, eat and drink, for there is a sound of the rushing of rain." So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Mount Carmel. And he bowed himself down on the earth and put his face between his knees. And he said to his servant, "Go up now, look toward the sea." And he went up and looked and said, "There is nothing." And he said, "Go again," seven times. And at the seventh time he said, "Behold, a little cloud like a man's hand is rising from the sea." And he said, "Go up, say to Ahab, 'Prepare your chariot and go down, lest the rain stop you.'" And in a little while the heavens grew black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode and went to Jezreel.” 1 Kings 18:41-45 (Emphasis added)

Maybe you’re in a process because God is teaching you how to trust Him and seek Him out. No matter how many times you have to go back up that mountain and no matter how many times you’ve been and seen nothing happen, GO ONE MORE TIME. You might just find your promise. Why? Because God never fails nor does He ever go back on His Word.

"Don't neglect your process. Your promise is found in it. - Sean Edwards

Maybe the season you’re in does not look like your calling. And that’s okay. Maybe you don’t know what you’re called to do and that’s also okay. Let’s go exploring into the heart of the Father. There you will find all you need to get from A to A1- not from A to Z. You know? It is not your job to be God. It is God’s job to be God and that means you don’t have to make sure everything happens according to plan. Leave that up to God. If He brought you to this training season He will give you everything you need to get through it.

HE’S THAT FAITHFUL.

God has not let you go. And He never will. That’s a promise you can be confident in. He is never failing and He is ALWAYS, ALWAYS faithful.
