Worship, Worship, Worship

Looking back on the past few years of my life, this idea of worshipping God has been the very center of it. Little did I know that in the moment. I would love to share with you what worship has meant to me over the past season of my life.

In February of 2015, I went on my first winter retreat with my church. The theme was "Beautiful Exchange" and they talked about worship. They talked about what happens in worship when we press in. I learned so much more than I ever thought I could.

For the first time, I felt like I really connected with God. A part of my heart that I didn't even know existed came alive in worship that weekend.

Fast forward to today. February of this year, God planted it in my heart this idea of leading people in worship. This idea of going after worship and digging deeper into what that really means. He wanted me to learn how to play piano. I didn't know it was a dream of mine until I started playing and another part of my heart came alive when I did.

Jesus and I connect on a different level when I sit in front of the piano and just play with Him.

Here's something very important that I have learned through this.

If we are not centered around this idea of whole-hearted worship to God, we will do nothing well. If we do not center ourselves around the reality of God's worthiness, we will have a completely skewed view of ourselves and God. When we don't know who the God we worship is, and when we don't know who we are as His sons and daughters, nothing makes sense.

In a posture of worship, we find out what the Father is really like. We discover His character and who He is to us. I challenge you to put yourself in a position where you can worship Jesus. Ask Him to show you who He really is. He wants you to understand that He is worthy.

Whether we believe it or not, God is worthy of the praise we have to give Him. He's worthy on our bad days and on our good days. He's worthy even when we don't feel worthy.

If this doesn't make sense yet, hang tight.

Let me make this veryyy clear: God is not some selfish God that needs you to praise Him so He feels good about Himself. He wants to know where your heart posture is towards Him and ultimately, He wants to grow you. This is what worship really means to me; connecting with my Father in Heaven and putting His worthiness and glory on display.

Let's be confident of this. This week, believe that God is worthy. Believe He wants intimacy and relationship with you and go after Him. Believe that He is good. You are in charge of what you believe and you can choose to go after something even if you don't believe it.

God inhabits the praises of His people. In Heaven, saints and creatures worship Him constantly because He is worthy. He's worthy of all blessing, honor, praise, glory, power, and offering we have to give. I will worship God first because He is worthy and deserving, and second because I want to grow in intimacy with Him. I want to know His heart.

"Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might, and honor and glory and blessing!" And I heard every creature in Heaven and on Earth and under the Earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, "To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!" And the four living creatures said, "Amen!" and the elders fell down and worshiped." Revelation 5:11-14
