Relationship With God In Everyday Life

I’ve heard all my life that God wants to “use” us. That word always makes me think about a performance, or doing tasks, always doing something.

I do not believe for one second that the heart of God is for us to be constantly busy. I don’t believe He’s sitting up there in Heaven going, “Great, you’re done with that task, now let me give you another one. And when you finish that one, I think you’ll be ready for something harder.”

I do not believe the word “task” is in God’s vocabulary. I don’t believe He is all about giving me stuff to do.

The world already gives me enough stuff. I don’t think God is interested in that.

Instead, I believe He wants us to partner with Him. I believe He wants us to listen carefully to what He wants to do, and work alongside Him in doing whatever that is He wants to do. I believe He doesn’t see us as little squeamish weak children. He constantly is looking to grow our character and call us higher in all situations, and I believe for me right now that means choosing to say yes to whatever God is interested in doing. It’s always something amazing. He’s always got incredible things and promises in store for us. I believe it is a privilege to be called a righteous daughter, and even a greater privilege that God wants me to be involved in what He’s doing.

Isn’t that awesome?! The ruler of the universe, the God above all wants you and me to be involved in what He is doing. My word, that is such a comforting thought.

That thought alone, to me, removes the condemnation that naturally follows a performance and work based mindset. That removes the lie that says “I will never be good enough.” It removes the lie that says “I am not worthy of God’s love.”

And it instills a sweet, sweet truth that says “I will always be enough. I am always worthy of love. God is calling me to hear His voice and to be involved in what He’s doing.”

Our God will never distance Himself from us. He will never say “You’ve gotten too close to me, and I’m going to push you away and now keep you at arm’s length.” He doesn't do that. Distance isn't something He embraces. He wants you to be close; close to His heart.

You are allowed to get what the world would say, “scary close” to God.

You are absolutely allowed to get as close to God as you can. It’s what we’re all made for. We’re all made to partner with heaven’s plans. As sons and daughters we have the permission to be completely who we are and we never have to be ashamed of that. God loves all of you. He's wild about you.

Our God is an intentional God. It used to really frustrate me in my friendships when I would be the only one reaching out and wanting to hangout or talk. I hated it at times. Sometimes even now it still really bothers me.

One thing I’ve learned through this, that applies very heavily to this topic is this: God has been intentional with me this whole time. God has been there for me and he has been asking and reaching out. He’s been wanting to spent time with me and talk with me. From a different perspective, God wants us to be intentional back with Him. He wants your heart and He wants to be in intimacy with you. The King of all, wants you and He wants all of you.

I could go on and on (obviously), but to sum this up, God has promises over your life. He has precious words He wants you to hear. He has time in His day always cut out for you and He’s available to you anytime. He wants to spend quality time with you and He wants you to get to know Him for who He really is.

Will you be intentional with the One who’s been reaching out and putting things in place for you this whole time?

God will always be intentional. His love for you is indescribable. He’s not a manager and you’re not an employee. He’s your Father, and you are His child. He wants relationship and intimacy, not a dictatorship type of relationship.

I don’t know about you, but this sounds pretty amazing to me.

Will you say yes to intimacy with the Father?
